Placement for visual content

✔Caption — directly under the image, in the same block as the image
✔Badge or watermark — on the image or video frame, so it survives screenshots and embeds
✔Video — on screen from the start, and in the description or end card
✔Alt text — mention AI generation for screen-reader users
✔File metadata — keep the provenance data your tool embeds (see the content label template)
✔Thumbnails and previews — label them too if they show the AI-generated content

Which rule applies

Under Article 50(2), the provider of the system that generates images or video must mark the output in a machine-readable format and make it detectable as artificially generated or manipulated — that's the file-level marking in the content label template. Generative systems already on the market before August 2, 2026 have until December 2, 2026 to comply (Article 111(4)).

It's a good idea. It makes the disclosure available to people using screen readers, and Article 50 requires the information to conform to applicable accessibility requirements.
